GetResponse Review 2026: Plans, Automation & Tradeoffs

Should you choose GetResponse? Compare plan limits, map a welcome sequence, and check the costs and tradeoffs for newsletters, ecommerce, and courses.

On this page

GetResponse is worth shortlisting if email is central to how you turn subscribers into customers. The buying decision is whether your actual workflow needs its automation and selling features, or whether a simpler newsletter setup would do the job with less maintenance.

Review basis: public pricing and product documentation checked September 5, 2026. This is a research-based assessment, not a hands-on benchmark of inbox placement or sales results. Some links may be affiliate links; see our affiliate disclosure.

Quick verdict

Your situation Our buying advice
One newsletter and a welcome sequence Define that small workflow before paying for additional capabilities
Different follow-ups for different interests Evaluate the automation plan against your exact branches and triggers
A course with email around it Compare the complete teaching and payment journey, not just the email editor
Finding cold prospects This review concerns subscriber marketing; see our outbound comparison for that different job

What the plans include

The official pricing page distinguishes Starter, Marketer, Creator, and Enterprise. Starter includes one custom automation workflow, landing pages, and signup forms. Marketer adds unlimited workflows and advanced segmentation. Creator adds webinars and a course creator, with up to 500 students shown in the plan summary. A 14-day trial is advertised. Check the full plan comparison for the limits that affect your use case. Source: GetResponse pricing.

The automation product uses conditions and actions to build subscriber journeys. That makes it relevant when follow-up depends on what a subscriber does, rather than a single scheduled broadcast. Source: GetResponse marketing automation.

How to compare the real cost

Use the same contact count, currency, and billing period when comparing quotes. The pricing page is localized: the version checked for this review displayed GBP, so we do not present that amount as a universal USD starting price. Taxes and the final checkout quote also matter. Source: GetResponse pricing.

Before committing to annual billing, fill in this buying worksheet:

Input What to record
Audience today Number of contacts you intend to import
Audience at renewal Your growth estimate, kept separate from current contacts
Required journeys Welcome, interest follow-up, customer onboarding, or another named workflow
Selling requirements Checkout, course access, webinar capacity, and integrations you need
Quoted cost Contact tier, plan, currency, taxes, and full annual payment if applicable
Work outside the subscription Migration, template changes, domain setup, and staff time

A low monthly equivalent is not the same as a low first payment. Compare the cash commitment and the time required to keep the system running.

A welcome sequence to evaluate during the trial

This is a proposed test using your own consenting test subscribers, not a claim that we ran a live campaign.

  1. Create one signup page for a specific resource, such as a guide to choosing an AI content workflow.
  2. Send a welcome message that delivers the promised resource. Confirm the link works on a phone and a desktop.
  3. Add one follow-up with two different topics. Decide what should happen after each choice before configuring the automation.
  4. Check whether the selected plan supports your intended conditions, actions, and number of workflows.
  5. Test the unsubscribe path and check that subsequent messages stop for the test contact.
  6. Record what was confusing, what needed another tool, and how long setup took.

Define success before testing: the right resource reaches the right subscriber, the intended branch runs, and opt-outs stop further messages. A successful configuration test does not establish inbox placement across providers or predict conversion rates.

Strengths and tradeoffs

The appeal is keeping more of the subscriber journey in one product. Our decision criterion is whether that reduces handoffs in your business. If you still need several external systems for the core journey, count those integrations and their maintenance before deciding.

The tradeoff is scope. More features mean more decisions about templates, segments, and ownership. A solo creator should be able to explain who maintains each workflow and what happens when an offer changes. If that answer is unclear, start with fewer journeys.

GetResponse or another platform?

For a combined email, funnel, and course stack, use our Systeme.io vs GetResponse comparison. Check its dated pricing notes against the live vendor quote before purchasing.

For a newsletter business, write down the business model first: sponsorship, a paid subscription, or email leading to a separate product. Our newsletter monetization workflow helps separate those choices.

Questions before buying

Is GetResponse worth it for a small list?

List size alone is not the decision. Compare your required workflow with the plan that supports it. A small but commercially important audience may need more than a large broadcast-only list.

Should I choose an annual plan immediately?

We would validate the signup, automation, and selling path first. Record the total payment and renewal conditions rather than comparing monthly equivalents alone.

Does this review establish email deliverability?

No. We have not run a controlled inbox-placement study. Product features and vendor documentation cannot substitute for measurements from your own sending setup and audience.
